Привіт! Ця новина не зовсім стосується мого блогу, але я хотів би поділитись нею із спільнотою. Справа в тому, що для кафедри, на якій я навчався, розробили новий сайт. Він приємний і виглядає добре. Однак, іще має певні недоліки.

There is a rule in our University, we must use upright greek characters in articles, course works, diplomas etc. CTAN package upgreek allows use of upright greek characters in Latex. But it is a bit difficult to install a new package for Latex manually. So i'll try to describe how i did it.
I describe my own expirience here. My machine is Dell Vostro laptop with Windows 7, I use MiKTeX and TexMath. I installed upgreek package using answers on tex.stackexchange.com. First one: http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/2063/how-can-i-manually-install-a-package-on-miktex-windows, second: http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/69483/create-a-local-texmf-tree-in-miktex.
1. Download upgreek package from CTAN.

2. Create a folder on the C:\ drive, in the root with a various name. I've created localtexmf folder.
3. Move contents of CTAN upgreek package into the localtexmf folder.

 3. Open Windows command line. Push Start and search for "cmd".

4. Open the application and enter next commands:
cd C:\
cd localtexmf\was
latex upgreek.ins
Now there must be compiled package upgreek.sty in the was folder.
Close Windows command line.

5. Copy tex folder from your Latex folder into localtexmf folder. In my case C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex into C:\localtexmf\.

6. Open tex/latex folder and create here the was folder. Move the file C:/localtexmf/was/upgreek.sty into the C:/localtexmf/tex/latex/was folder.

7. Move C:/localtexmf/was folder to some other directory, for example into C:\Users\пк\Documents (My Documents folder).
8. Open Start menu and search for MiKTeX Settings (Admin).

9. Launch the application and go to the Roots tab. Push an Add button. Select C:\localtexmf folder. Then press Apply button.

10. Open General tab and press Refresh FNDB and then Update Formats.

11. Press OK in the MiKTeX windows and open Windows command line again (you can search for cmd in the Start menu).
12. Navigate to the was folder. In this example it is inside C:\Users\пк\Documents (My Documents folder). For that execute that command:
cd C:\Users\пк\Documents\was
Now add upgreek documentation for Latex, execute that command:
latex upgreek.dtx
Close command line.
13. Once more open MikTex Settings window (search for MiKTeX Settings (Admin) in the Start menu) and open General tab. Press Refresh FNDB and then Update Formats buttons to refresh the File name database and update all format files.
14. Now open your Latex editor. I'm using TexMath with Libreoffice. And edit Preamble.

15. Add line \usepackage {upgreek} to the preamble.

16. Save the preamble and try to use upgreek characters.
